What's New?

Everything has to go by month's end !!!
It is with deep regret we have to announce the permanent closure of the Albury Hobby Centre at 530 David Street which has been an iconic part of the town’s CBD for best part of 7 decades.
The unexpected recent sale of the building and its new owner’s desire to develop it for office space combined with the quite short notice to vacate, has sadly left us no real choice unfortunately. The lack of suitable, affordable, viable alternative locations with the same amenities and locale, not to mention hefty potential fit-out costs and increased rent and long lease that would ensue, have all sadly combined to make it a purely economic decision in the end.
This coupled with a tough 18 months battling to get reliable stock flow in a Covid-ravaged economy with no real obvious improvement in sight, along with the impact of multiple border closures and restrictions upon us has sadly made closing the only realistic option
So we’d like to say a huge thankyou to all who have loyally supported us as customers and also those former and current employees who have worked for us over the last 70 plus years in all its various incarnations, from its humble beginnings perhaps in as early as the late 1940's over in Kiewa Street for 35 odd years under Jack Ellis and through to its various moves up on to Dean street under Ted Easton in the late '70s-early '80s, including the well-remembered ‘La Pochetta Corner’ Cinema building site with  'John & Kev' from c.'86 to 2001, right through to its current 20+ year set-up here at 530 David Street opposite Myers under our tenure.
Hopefully someone will step in again one day to fill the void left when things come back to normality with supply around the world if the need is still there. But until then, thanks once again and its very sad to have to close the curtain on a long established business caught in a combination of unfortunate circumstances in these very tough and trying times for shop-front retail.
